The 360 N5 was a performance-focused mid-range smartphone from Chinese manufacturer 360 Mobile, launched in early 2017. Positioned as a “flagship killer,” the N5 gained attention for its high RAM capacity, robust chipset, and efficient power management—all offered at an affordable price. It was ideal for users who wanted multitasking capabilities, smooth gaming performance, and solid battery life without entering the high-price segment.
Starting with the design, the 360 N5 showcased a sleek and modern appearance with a metal frame and glass front, giving it a premium feel for its class. Its body was slightly curved for better ergonomics, and the minimalist design featured capacitive buttons on the front, with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The phone was available in black and gold, and its slim profile and polished finish gave it a stylish edge over other mid-range competitors.
The display on the N5 was a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 401 ppi. This ensured crisp and vibrant visuals, ideal for watching videos, browsing the web, and gaming. The display offered accurate color reproduction and good sunlight legibility, making it comfortable to use both indoors and outdoors.
Under the hood, the 360 N5 featured the Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor—an octa-core chipset with four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. Built for performance, the Snapdragon 653 delivered impressive speeds in both CPU and GPU tasks. Paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, the N5 handled multitasking exceptionally well, allowing users to switch between apps and even play demanding games without lag or slowdowns.
In terms of storage, the phone offered 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, depending on the variant. It also supported microSD expansion via a hybrid SIM slot, allowing users to add up to 128GB of additional storage. This flexibility was especially useful for users who stored large amounts of media or games on their devices.
On the camera front, the 360 N5 had a 13-megapixel rear sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and an f/2.0 aperture. The camera was fast to focus and captured detailed photos in well-lit conditions. While low-light performance was average—as expected for its segment—it still managed acceptable results with minimal noise and decent color balance. The 8-megapixel front camera was equipped with beauty filters and wide-angle support, making it suitable for selfies and video calls.
One of the key selling points of the 360 N5 was its 4000mAh battery, which provided excellent endurance. Thanks to the power-efficient Snapdragon 653 and well-optimized 360 OS, users could expect up to two days of moderate use on a single charge. The device also supported Quick Charge 3.0, allowing it to reach around 80% battery in just under an hour, which added tremendous convenience for users on the go.
The software experience was driven by Android 6.0 Marshmallow with 360 OS 2.0 layered on top. The custom interface was clean and lightweight, with useful features like app cloning, privacy space, screen recording, and advanced power-saving tools. Though not stock Android, the UI was responsive and user-friendly.
For connectivity, the 360 N5 supported dual SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type-C. It also retained a 3.5mm headphone jack—still highly appreciated by many users.
In summary, the 360 N5 delivered excellent value for money, offering a robust Snapdragon 653 chipset, a generous 6GB of RAM, a Full HD display, long-lasting battery life, and solid design—all at a mid-range price. While not a flagship by today’s standards, it was one of the best-performing smartphones in its category at launch, appealing to both gamers and power users alike.
